Tess Zahn has held various roles in the environmental science field since 2015. In 2015, they were a Student Volunteer at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). In 2016, they were an Organic Farm Intern at Dickinson College. In 2018, they were a Field Assistant at The Research Corporation of the University of Hawai'i, a Data Assistant at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and an Environmental Scientist at The Vertex Companies, Inc. At The Vertex Companies, Inc., they conducted and directed groundwater, soil, and air sampling events for investigative and remedial work, and composed various environmental reports for a diverse group of properties. At Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, they worked with colleagues to develop an environmental database and evolve research questions/hypotheses regarding environmental attributes of yielding specific food groups with the goal to publish the study in a reputable scientific journal. In 2020, they were an Environmental Scientist at PennJersey Environmental Consulting, where they provided specialized consulting services to suit client’s environmental site assessment, sustainability efforts, and remediation needs, and assisted in the development of renewable solar energy across counties in New Jersey. Tess also managed projects and large tasks in collaboration with senior staff. In 2022, they will be a Senior Project Coordinator at RenewCO².
Tess Zahn has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Dickinson College, which they obtained from 2014 to 2018. Tess is currently pursuing a Certificate in Sustainable Management from Duke University, which they expect to complete in 2022. Additionally, Tess is CPR/First Aid Certified, OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certified from HAZWOPER OSHA Training, LLC., and PADI Certified from PADI.
