Tom Van Ruiten has a diverse work experience in various marketing and sales roles. Tom started their career in 2006 as the Director of Business Development at Farmers Insurance, where they worked until 2010. Afterwards, they joined ETL Inc. as the Director of Marketing from 2010 to 2013. Tom then joined Access Event Solutions as the Director of Sales from 2013 to 2015, and subsequently became the Director of Marketing from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, they joined Noble Studios as the Digital Marketing Manager until 2020, and then served as the Associate Director of Performance Marketing until 2022. Currently, they are the Director of Marketing at the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, a position they have held since March 2022. Additionally, in 2016, they were also a Founding Partner at Agent Eden, a role which they still hold.

Tom Van Ruiten completed their education history as follows. Tom obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Education-Instructional Technology from California State University, Stanislaus from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics from the same institution between 1998 and 2002. Furthermore, they pursued Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of California, Davis from 1993 to 1996, although they did not obtain a specific degree in this field. In addition to their formal education, Tom Van Ruiten has obtained various certifications, including Optimizely X Strategy Foundations and Optimizely X Web Foundations from Optimizely in November 2018. Tom also obtained the BrightEdge Professional Certification from BrightEdge in March 2018, and the Google Ads Display Certification, Google Ads Search Certification, and Google Analytics Individual Qualification from Google in December 2017.
