Michael Whatley serves as Chairman and General Counsel for the Republican National Committee since March 2023, following a tenure as Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party from June 2019 to May 2024. Whatley's extensive experience includes leadership roles such as Partner at HBW Resources until July 2022, Executive Vice President at the Consumer Energy Alliance from January 2008 to June 2019, and President of Patriot Group, LLC from January 2005 to December 2007. Prior to these roles, Whatley held significant positions within the U.S. Senate, including Chief of Staff for Senator Elizabeth Dole, and served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy. Academic credentials include a JD from Notre Dame Law School, as well as advanced degrees in Theology and Religion from the University of Notre Dame and Wake Forest University, respectively, along with a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
