Paula Eerola has an extensive work experience in academia and research. Paula is currently serving as the President of the Academy of Finland since 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at the University of Helsinki, including Vice-Rector from 2018 to 2022, Professor since 2008, and Dean of the Faculty of Science in 2018. Additionally, they served as the Director of the Helsinki Institute of Physics from 2016 to 2017. In their earlier career, they were a Chair of the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering at the Academy of Finland from 2013 to 2017. Paula also worked as a Professor at Lund University from 2001 to 2008, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Helsinki from 1996 to 2001. Paula Eerola started their research career at CERN, where they worked as a Research Physicist from 1993 to 1997 and as a Post-doc Fellow from 1991 to 1993.
Paula Eerola pursued their education at the University of Helsinki, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Physics from 1980 to 1985. Paula continued their academic journey at the same university, during which they enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Physics from 1985 to 1990.
