Tuomas Katajarinne

Tuomas Katajarinne is a seasoned expert in the field of science and research management, currently serving as a Senior Science Adviser at the Research Council of Finland since January 2014. In this role, Tuomas is integral to the Strategic Research Council, which focuses on funding solutions for major societal challenges. Previously, as a Programme Manager at the Academy of Finland, Tuomas managed significant thematic research programmes including “New Energy” and “Mineral resources and material substitution.” Tuomas's earlier experience includes positions as a Research Scientist and Project Manager at Aalto University, and as a Research Scientist at both the University of Oulu and Helsinki University of Technology, where Tuomas specialized in material processing, microstructural evolution, and empirical regression modelling. Tuomas holds a D.Sc. in Sheet Metal Technology from Aalto University and an M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering.
