Gary Tarpinian has over 30 years of work experience in various roles and industries. Gary started their career in the US Navy as a Lieutenant and served as a Naval Reactors Engineer, managing an applied government research program. After leaving the Navy, they worked as a Product Engineer at Delco Electronics, where they contributed to the development of car navigation systems for General Motors.
Gary then joined Intel as a Leaders For Manufacturing Intern, where they developed an ROI model for cost savings opportunities. Following this, they worked at Eaton Corporation in their Leadership Development Program, where they focused on supply chain management and strategic planning.
In 2000, Tarpinian transitioned to GE Healthcare, initially serving as an Operations Product Manager and later as an Operations Modality Leader. Gary was responsible for managing a global team of Operations Product Managers and overseeing multiple product lines.
Tarpinian then joined Accuray, where they held several roles including Senior Manager of Sustaining Engineering, Director of Sustaining Engineering, and Director of Program Management. In these positions, they were responsible for the quality, reliability, and lifecycle management of radiation treatment delivery systems and treatment planning software products. Gary also led teams in executing product engineering projects to address regulatory requirements, international growth, and cost optimization.
Most recently, Tarpinian worked at Baxter International Inc. as the Director of Operations Engineering. In this role, they led Sustaining and Technical Cost Out (TCO) engineering teams, supporting medical device manufacturing sites and executing projects to address regulatory requirements, supply chain optimization, and cost reduction.
In 2023, Tarpinian joined AprilAire as a Product Approval Leader, although the details of this role were not provided. Throughout their career, Tarpinian has demonstrated expertise in operations management, program management, engineering, and strategic planning, with a focus on medical devices and healthcare.
Gary Tarpinian has a strong educational background in engineering, computer science, and business administration. Gary obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they pursued from 1985 to 1990. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 1991 to 1994.
In 1997, Gary enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and simultaneously pursued two degrees. Gary completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Additionally, they obtained an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing in Business Administration, Management, and Operations. Both of these programs were completed in 1999.
In terms of additional certifications, Gary obtained the "Business Acumen and Strategy for Managers" certification from the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional and Executive Development in May 2018, showcasing their commitment to continuous learning and career development.
