Gerald McNerney, NPDP has extensive work experience in various leadership and managerial roles within the engineering and product development field. Gerald currently serves as the Vice President of Engineering at Aprilaire, where they provide strategic direction for the growth of the Engineering and Technology group and leads product strategy development. Prior to this, they were the Director of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) at Aprilaire, leading the product development and engineering team for air quality products.
Before joining Aprilaire, McNerney worked at Springs Window Fashions as the Executive Director of New Product Innovation. In this role, they created an innovation group and led a Product Management team to enhance the residential Springs Window Fashion business. Gerald implemented new tools for incorporating the voice of the customer, conducted consumer research to identify unmet needs, and launched new projects to surpass the competition.
McNerney also gained valuable experience at Spectrum Brands, Inc, where they held multiple senior-level positions. As the Senior Director of NPD for Heated Cooking Appliances and George Foreman Grills, they were responsible for global new product development activities, including roadmaps, customer research, R&D, and innovation. Gerald also supported various brands under Spectrum Brands, such as Black and Decker Appliances and Russell Hobbs.
Additionally, McNerney worked at Whirlpool Corporation as a Senior Global Product Manager, overseeing mechanical structures for dishwashers globally. Gerald also served as a Senior Engineering Manager, Mega Project Lead, and Design Quality Lead during their tenure at Whirlpool.
Prior to that, they held the role of Principal Engineer at Delta Faucet Company for over a decade.

Gerald McNerney, NPDP, holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) from Purdue University, which they obtained from 1997 to 2000. Gerald furthered their education by pursuing an MBA in Leadership from Anderson University, completing it from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1995, they earned their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with a minor in Computer Science from Kettering University. In addition to their academic qualifications, McNerney has also obtained the NPDP certification in New Product Development Professional from the PDMA (Product Development and Management Association) in March 2015.
