Nick McBride serves as the General Counsel and Director of Legal Services at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, a position held since November 2004, where responsibilities include overseeing the bank's legal affairs. In 2013, the role was re-graded to General Counsel after McBride established the bank's first corporate counsel function upon joining in 2004. McBride briefly acted as the Head of Risk Assurance and Assessment Department from March to December 2016. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Solicitor at the Ministry of Economic Development, focusing on legislation and corporate services, and providing policy advice on consumer protection laws at the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. McBride began a legal career at the Christchurch Community Law Centre and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury and a Master of Business Studies from Massey University, alongside education from the London Business School.
