Rui Carvalho, PhD PMP DASM

Rui Carvalho, PhD PMP DASM has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 1998, they started their career in the marketing department at LAMMI, where they worked until 2003. Then, from 2003 to 2004, they worked as an Information Technology Assistant at Intentia Consulting. In 2009, they served as a Researcher - Scientific Grant at Instituto Superior Técnico, where they conducted research on the synthesis of coordination compounds and tested their catalytic activity.

Following that, from 2011 to 2016, Rui Carvalho worked as an R&D Scientist at Micronit Microtechnologies. In this role, they researched new chemical strategies for MEMS and supervised interns. Rui also published seven papers and obtained two patents, including a commercial product developed in 2019.

From 2017 to 2021, Rui Carvalho worked at Surfix Diagnostics as a Project Manager Team Lead. Rui led several projects, including multi-company projects and customer NPD projects, while actively engaging with researchers, partners, and customers.

In 2021, Rui Carvalho joined LUMICKS as a Senior Project Manager. In this role, they managed projects with budgets of up to 1.5 M€ and coordinated with R&D, Business Development, and Operations teams to guide strategic planning and budgeting.

In 2022, Rui Carvalho worked as a Technical Program Management Consultant, assisting the University of Amsterdam in strategic planning, defining department strategies, and implementing PPM tools for complex projects.

Currently, Rui Carvalho is employed at Resolve Biosciences as a Program Manager. Rui heads the PMO and R&D Programs while implementing Disciplined Agile Enterprise practices.

Rui Carvalho, PhD PMP DASM has an extensive education history in the field of chemistry. In 2003, Rui obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in English - C2 from the University of Cambridge. In 2009, Rui participated in an Erasmus Intensive Program at the University of Camerino, studying Advanced Catalysis and Organometallic Chemistry. In 2010, Rui completed their MSc in Chemistry at Instituto Superior Técnico. Rui went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry at Wageningen University - ORC from 2015 to 2017.

Alongside their academic achievements, Rui has also completed various certifications related to project management and other areas. In 2021, Rui obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. They also completed the Project Management Principles and Practices Specialization from the same institution in 2021. In 2023, Rui acquired the Disciplined Agile Scrum Master certification.

Additionally, Rui holds certifications in various project management-related courses from reputable institutions such as the University of California, Irvine, Coursera, and the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC), among others. The certifications obtained cover a wide range of topics including budgeting and scheduling projects, managing project risks and changes, initiating and planning projects, and searching prior art based on patent applications. Rui has also completed courses on reasoning and understanding arguments offered by Duke University and its Coursera platform. In terms of technical skills, Rui has obtained certifications in Atomic Force Microscopy, the analysis of macromolecular interactions, single-crystal X-ray crystallography, and modern methods of structure elucidation.

Overall, Rui Carvalho has acquired a significant amount of education and certifications in both their academic field of chemistry and in project management, showcasing a multidisciplinary skill set.
