Margaret Mitchell

Margaret Mitchell has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Margaret started their career as a Senior Software Engineer at Honeywell Information Systems in 1989, where they designed and developed email and operating system software. Margaret also worked abroad in France for six months on a joint French and US development project.

In 1995, Mitchell joined American Express and took on various roles, including Lead Programmer Analyst for Interactive Development, Director of Interactive Technologies, VP Software Development, and VP Business Intelligence. During their time at American Express, they led the development of customer-facing applications, improved availability and delivery timeframes, and managed a 50 terabyte data warehouse.

From 2007 to 2012, Mitchell served as VP Information Management at American Express, where they managed data strategy, architecture, and master data management. Margaret developed and delivered an enterprise data management strategy resulting in significant cost savings and enabled the successful deployment of SOA and BPM.

In 2012, Mitchell transitioned to the role of VP Engineering at American Express and was responsible for the development of Plenti, a startup within the company. Margaret also led the migration of American Express's disaster recovery data center and database systems, ensuring the successful relocation and certification of the new data center.

After leaving American Express, Mitchell briefly worked as a technology executive advising startups on technology solutions and minimizing technical debt. In 2017, they joined Resonea, Inc. as the CIO, where they spearheaded the development of DROWZLE, a mobile software system for sleep breathing pattern analysis and sharing results with doctors.

Margaret Mitchell holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, which they obtained from the Thunderbird School of Global Management from 1997 to 1999. Margaret'sfield of study during this period was Masters in International Management. Prior to their MBA, they completed their undergraduate studies at Montana State University-Bozeman from 1983 to 1987. At Montana State University, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science Engineering.

In addition to their academic degrees, Margaret Mitchell has also obtained certifications in the field of project management and gamification. In January 2017, they acquired the Certified Scrum Product Owner certification from the Scrum Alliance. Furthermore, in March 2017, they completed the Designing Gamification Level 1 (Basic) certification from Udemy.
