Job description

Inspire and lead young minds as an Assistant Site Director for RAFT's STEAM Intersession and Camp Programs. In this role, you will collaborate with our RAFT Program Leadership team and Camp Site Director to ensure smooth daily operations, uphold camp standards, and make lasting impact on young minds.

This is a temporary position with the opportunity to work 37.5 to 40 hours per week, depending on the camp site. This role comes with a competitive hourly pay range of $42.50 to $45.50, plus a $200 stipend for completing training and the hiring process on time.

Sample of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Daily Camp Operations:

  • Assist with implementing camp guidelines, emergency procedures, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support the Camp Site Director in overseeing daily operations, including check-in/out processes, class activities, outdoor events, and the end-of-week showcase.
  • Help maintain accurate records of student attendance, medical information, and authorized pick-up lists.

Family Communication:

  • Assist in providing timely and supportive communication to parents via email, phone, and in-person.
  • Support the Camp Site Director in managing email communications, including end-of-week showcase invitations.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Collaborate with the Camp Site Director to address facility-related concerns.
  • Assist in coordinating with the site IT coordinator and janitor to ensure smooth operations and cleanliness.

Training and Coordination:

  • Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding, professional development, and staff meetings before camp.
  • Engage in after-camp debrief sessions.
  • Take on additional coordinating responsibilities as directed by the Camp Site Director.

Staff Support:

  • Assist the Camp Site Director in supervising and supporting camp staff, including overseeing camp closing(or opening) as needed during the nine-hour camp day.

  • Help track daily staffing needs and attendance, and communicate any issues to the RAFT team.

  • Step in to cover responsibilities for a staff member when needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of student program management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in a supportive or supervisory role preferred.
  • TB Risk Assessment & Fingerprint clearance.
