Zabrina Jenkins

Independent Board Director (NASDAQ: ROIC) at Retail Opportunity Investments

Zabrina Jenkins has extensive work experience in the legal field. Zabrina began their career as a Corporate Counsel at Starbucks in 2005, where they managed the general and product liability portfolio for retail locations in North America. Zabrina later became a Director, overseeing commercial, ADA, real estate, consumer protection, product, and general liability litigation for over 6,000 retail locations. During this time, they also played a role in developing cybersecurity and food safety incident senior leadership simulation exercises.

In 2016, Jenkins was promoted to Managing Director at Starbucks, where they led the company's global litigation function and successfully resolved claims related to a highly publicized incident in Philadelphia involving the arrest of two customers.

Moving up the ranks, Jenkins became Vice President Assistant General Counsel and interim Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer in 2019. In that role, they led the restructuring of the ethics and compliance program and reported to the Audit and Compliance Committee, Board of Directors, and company leadership on compliance trends and risk mitigation measures.

In 2020, Jenkins was promoted to Senior Vice President Deputy General Counsel at Starbucks. Zabrina led the company's global legal strategy, overseeing intellectual property, real estate, employment, commercial transactions, and litigation functions. In addition, they served as a strategic advisor to senior executives and the Board of Directors.

Most recently, in 2022, Jenkins was promoted to their current role as Executive Vice President General Counsel at Starbucks. Zabrina continues to lead the company's legal operations and serves as a key member of the senior leadership team.

Outside of Starbucks, Jenkins has also held positions at Retail Opportunity Investments Corp. as an Independent Board Director and at Teavana as Chief Legal Counsel. Zabrina was also a Fellow at the International Women's Forum.

Prior to their time at Starbucks, Jenkins worked as an Associate at Garvey Schubert Barer, where they gained experience in various areas of litigation.

Zabrina Jenkins has a diverse education history that spans multiple institutions and areas of study. In 1988 to 1992, they attended Central Washington University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance. Following this, from 1994 to 2000, Zabrina pursued a Juris Doctor degree, graduating with honors from Syracuse University College of Law. In addition to their law degree, they also completed a Master of Science program in Higher Education Administration at Syracuse University from 1995 to 1997.

Zabrina further expanded their knowledge in 2019 to 2020 by enrolling in OnBoarding Women, where they completed a Corporate Board Director Training program. In 2020, they attended INSEAD as part of the IWF - Women Leading Global Change Program. Additionally, Zabrina has plans to enroll in the Harvard Business School in 2022 to participate in the International Women's Forum Leadership Fellowship Program.
