Mailis Bietenhader is an opthomaltic photographer who currently works at RetiSpec. Mailis has previous experience working as a medical imaging specialist in ophthalmology, where they were responsible for external photography, gonioscopy, slit lamp biomicrography, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography IVFA, optical coherence tomography OCT (retina and anterior segment), eye ultrasound B-scan (including waterbath technic) and ultrasound biomicroscopy UBM, OPTOS and Zeiss Clarus wide-field imaging, and handheld imaging in the operating room during sedation. Mailis has also participated in the development of a sensitive examination protocol for virtual appointments.
Mailis Bietenhader has a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Université de Bordeaux II, and a Master's Degree in Agronomy, Biochemistry, and Biology from Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Agronomie de Rennes. Mailis is certified by the IJCAHPO as a Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer (CDOS), and as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). Mailis also has a certification from Centennial College in Ophthalmic Medical Personnel.
