Tony joined the RSRT board of trustees in 2011. His daughter, Kelly, who is afflicted with Rett, inspires his interest and motivation. Tony and his wife, Kathy, had been closely monitoring the science of Rett for many years. Their decision to engage at the board level is a reflection of the urgency and the optimism surrounding the potential for treatments and a cure. Over the past six years the Schoeners have committed $3 million to RSRT. This remarkable generosity included $2 million in support of the MECP2 Consortium and $1 million toward RSRT’s three-year strategic research plan, Roadmap to a Cure, that was announced in 2017.
After a 14-year career with Starent Networks/Cisco, Tony joined RIFT in 2014, a communications start-up based in MA where he served as President and CEO. Tony is also a technology advisor/angel investor, working with several companies in the Boston area.
Tony assumed the position of Chairman of the RSRT board of trustees in 2012.
