John D.

John D. is a Lead Writer for the Middle East & Russia-Ukraine at Reuters News Agency since October 2023. Prior to this role, John served as Bureau Chief in Iraq, Deputy Bureau Chief in Egypt and Sudan, and Correspondent in Syria and Lebanon during their time at Reuters from August 2015 to February 2023. Before joining Reuters, John worked as a Correspondent in Israel and Palestinian Territories, Editor of the Middle East English service, and at AFP. John's career also includes roles at BBC as a Media Analyst and Researcher, as well as at Kantar Media as an International Press Editor. John holds a MA (Hons) in Arabic and History from The University of Edinburgh and has studied Farsi.
