Lee's earlier roles involved energy efficiency engineering at Associated Engineering, project management at AMP Solar Group, and renewable energy engineering at MCW Custom Energy Solutions. Lee has an extensive educational background, holding a Master of Science in Energy Policy & Climate from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University.
