Carla Burns

Carla B. has a diverse range of work experience in various organizations and roles. Carla is currently working as a Senior Program Manager at Rewiring America. Prior to this, Carla was a Senior Director at the Environmental Working Group, where they focused on public health and environmental health topics, specifically consumer products and sustainable marketplace trends. Before that, they worked as a Data Analyst at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, collecting and analyzing program data. Carla also worked as a Project Coordinator at the District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility and as a Project Development Coordinator at City Blossoms, gaining skills in database management, grant writing, and community outreach. Earlier in their career, they served as a Medical Office Administrator at Providence Hospital, a Toxics Team Fellow at Greenpeace, and an Agroforestry Extension Agent in the Peace Corps.

Carla B. completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Earth and Environmental Science & Biology at the University of Rochester. Carla studied there from 2005 to 2009. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Science at American University from 2011 to 2013. In November 2021, Carla obtained a certification titled "Leading with a Heavy Heart" from LinkedIn.
