Officer-in-Charge, Principal Officer at RHB Bank Berhad

Mohd Rashid Mohamad was appointed as Officer-In-Charge / Principal Officer, RHB Banking Group on 24 January 2022. This is in addition to his existing role as Managing Director, Group Wholesale Banking on 1 July 2021 onwards.

In his role as the Officer-In-Charge / Principal Officer, RHB Banking Group, Rashid leads the Group in managing its businesses and operations both in Malaysia as well as the Group’s overseas operations to achieve its targeted deliverables and maximize the Group’s shareholder returns.

In leading GWB on the other hand, Rashid spearheads the formulation and execution of business strategy encompassing Group Investment Banking, Group Treasury & Global Markets, Group Corporate Banking, Group Asset Management, Transaction Banking, Commercial Banking and Economics. His priority is to drive the performance of GWB by fostering better collaboration amongst the various businesses, improve product offerings and operational excellence so as to ensure that customers are served in a more holistic and effective manner.

Rashid began his career in Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in 1988 and spent 14 years in the Examination / Supervision Department and Investment Operations & Financial Markets Department. He has over 30 years working experience in financial markets with several financial institutions in Singapore and Malaysia namely ABN Amro NV, The Royal Bank of Scotland and AmBank Group.

Prior to his current role, Rashid was the Group Treasurer of RHB Banking Group since March 2014.

Rashid holds a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from University Technology Mara (“UiTM”), Shah Alam, Selangor.

He is a Vice President in the Financial Market Association (“FMA”), while holding memberships and serving in the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”), Industry Advisory Council, PayNet and Financial Market Committee (“FMC”) of BNM.
