Gwendolyn Spizz has a strong background in scientific research and development. Gwendolyn is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Rheonix, Inc., a position they have held since November 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Rheonix, Inc. in various roles, including Senior Director of Biological R&D and Director of Biological Research & Development. Before joining Rheonix, Inc., Gwendolyn worked as a Consultant and Technical Writer at International Food Network (IFN). Gwendolyn also served as a Research Associate at Cornell University, Group Leader of Experimental Cancer Biology at Gene Network Sciences, and Research Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Gwendolyn began their career as a Research Fellow at Duke University Medical Center and the Lineberger Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina.

Gwendolyn Spizz earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University at Buffalo in 1979. Gwendolyn then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in the same field from the same university, completing it in 1981. Gwendolyn Spizz further continued their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating in 1992.
