Alexander Platzer

Alexander Platzer is a seasoned professional in the field of engineering and technology, currently serving as VP/Head of Global Engineering & Simulation at RHI Magnesita since February 2019. Platzer has held multiple leadership roles within the company, including Vice President of 4.0 Refractory Application Machinery and Vice President of 4.0 New Concepts & Technology Deployment. Prior experience includes a brief tenure at Calderys focusing on Digital Service and Technology Projects, and significant positions at Imerys as S&T Dept Director for the Fused Minerals Division and R&D Director for the Refractory Minerals Division. An early career at RHI Magnesita involved leading the Physics Department in Central R&D and managing projects on isostatic products, complemented by project management at MCL Materials Competence Center Leoben and an R&D role at Pankl Racing Systems. Platzer holds a Material Science degree and a Ph.D. in Ceramic Materials and Material Testing, both from Montanuniversität Leoben.
