Karen Larose Sylvia

Karen LaRose Sylvia is an experienced communications and marketing professional with a strong background in membership coordination, administrative support, and legal secretarial work. Currently serving as a Communications and Marketing Associate at the Rhode Island Foundation since September 2017, Karen has previously held roles ranging from Gifts Administrator to Operations Administrator within the same organization. Prior experience includes a lengthy tenure at the Steamship Historical Society of America, where responsibilities encompassed member communications, publication editing, event planning, and fundraising efforts. Earlier career roles as a Legal Secretary provided administrative expertise in law offices, while experience as an Advertising Coordinator involved coordinating marketing programs for major companies. Karen holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Rhode Island College and an Administrative Assistant/Secretarial Certificate from Katharine Gibbs School.
