Douglas Carles

Vice President, Global Real Estate at Ribbon Communications

Douglas Carles has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Douglas started their career in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Combat Systems Engineer, working on various projects across Canada and on both coasts. After leaving the navy, they joined Nortel where they held several managerial roles, including Manager of Wireless Software Design and IMS Technical Program Manager for Verizon. Douglas also led the HSS/HLR and CVAS R&D programs, ensuring successful program execution during a time of organizational change and divestiture. In 2010, they joined GENBAND as the Director of Business Operations and Integration, responsible for merging two large R&D organizations. Douglas later became the Senior Director of Global Real Estate and Facilities, overseeing all real estate matters and managing the annual budgets. In 2017, they joined Ribbon Communications as the Senior Director of Global Real Estate and Facilities, and was later promoted to Vice President of Global Real Estate. Douglas successfully integrated the real estate portfolios of Sonus and GENBAND, delivering targeted synergy savings. Douglas continued to lead all global real estate holdings and executed lease negotiations, contracts, and legal matters.

Douglas Carles completed their undergraduate education from 1988 to 1993 at the Royal Military College of Canada/Collège militaire royal du Canada, where they pursued a degree in Computer Engineering with a focus on computer programming and design. Following this, from 1994 to 1995, they attended Dalhousie University to study Electrical Engineering, specializing in circuits.
