Chris Poteet

Board Member at Richardson High School

Chris Poteet was elected to the Richardson ISD Board in June 2021. He has a lifetime of experience in public service. From active military service to volunteering in his community and for RISD, he has prioritized his commitment to his community throughout his life. Chris served on the RISD Bond 2021 Steering Committee where he spent months learning about facilities and needs throughout the district to arrive at a recommendation on the package of projects that were eventually approved by RISD voters. He is an active parent volunteer at Moss Haven Elementary and Forest Meadow Jr. High and has been the recipient of multiple service awards for his work with the City and non-profits.

Chris is a RISD homeowner and taxpayer, a 2014 graduate of Leadership Dallas, and has served on the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands for more than a decade, including as past president. Additional service to RISD includes participation on the 2017 RISD Strategic Planning Committee, completion of the Inside RISD program, and membership on the Program Planning Committee for the major LHHS renovations completed in 2020. He and his wife Kristi are in their 15th year as Lake Highlands residents.

Professionally, Chris works as the State of Texas licensed Professional Engineer (Civil), focusing on Engineering, Construction, and Program Management of public infrastructure projects for numerous local clients. Previously, he continued his family tradition of military service by serving in the U.S. Army for more than eight years. As an active duty Engineer Officer, he led troops, trained for combat, participated in peacekeeping, and executed combat operations in the Republic of Korea, Colorado, Missouri, North Carolina, the Republic of Kosovo (formerly part of Yugoslavia), and Iraq.

Chris earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University while also serving as a member of the Corps of Cadets.
