Michael Kaplan

Michael Kaplan became Senior Vice President & General Counsel in October 2022. He is a seasoned business leader with over 25 years of experience guiding public companies and private equity-backed corporations and their CEOs, executive teams, and boards of directors through a wide range of legal matters. Prior to joining MDC Holdings, Mr. Kaplan served as Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer for Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., and Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chief Security Officer at StandardAero. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and government from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School in Palo Alto, California.
