Sarah McCarthy

Vice President Strategic Initiatives at Rick Hansen Foundation

Sarah McCarthy has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Sarah started their career in 2008 as an Executive Director at the American Society for Apheresis, where they focused on advancing apheresis medicine. Sarah also served as the Executive Director of the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care, working towards reducing the global burden of cancer through nursing education. Sarah then joined the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories as the Executive Director, promoting harmonized standards and innovation in biobanking. Sarah later worked as an Association Executive at Malachite Management Inc, providing management services to medical and scientific associations. More recently, Sarah took on the role of Vice President Strategic Initiatives at the Rick Hansen Foundation, where they contributed to creating a world without barriers for people with disabilities. Alongside their professional positions, they also worked as an Instructor at Langara College, teaching students about business strategy.

Sarah McCarthy obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Behaviour, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Windsor. Sarah then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from the University of British Columbia. Additionally, Sarah completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from The University of British Columbia. Sarah is currently enrolled in the Impact Measurement Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
