Charles Chasela

Charles Chasela has extensive work experience in the fields of public health and research. Charles has held various roles at different organizations throughout their career.

In 2001, Charles joined UNC Project as a Study Coordinator and remained in this role until 2011. Charles then joined the University of Witwatersrand in 2011 as a Senior Lecture/Epidemiologist and served in this position until 2019.

In 2009, Charles briefly worked at the CDC as a Researcher. Charles also worked at the HSRC (Human Sciences Research Council) as a Research Director from 2015 to 2017.

In 2014, Charles joined the University of Witwatersrand School of Public Health as an Associate Professor and is still currently in this role.

Most recently, in 2017, Charles became the Chief Scientific Officer at Right to Care, where they continue to work.

Charles Chasela pursued a PhD in Epidemiology from University College Dublin from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Epidemiology and Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London from 2003 to 2005.
