Shelly Buchman

Shelly Buchman is the Vice President Global Human Resources, Associate General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at RigNet. Shelly has been with the company since January 2018 and in their current role since July 2021.

Buchman is responsible for HR strategy development, global implementation, and oversight as a key member of the Executive Team. Shelly also supervises the HR department located in the United States, UK, and Brazil, and collaborates with operating leaders on staffing needs, global mobility, performance management, optimizing the talent acquisition process, and driving retention activities. Additionally, Buchman manages union initiatives including collective bargaining agreements in Norway and Brazil, and advises and supports senior leaders in the execution of employment practices. As a member of the Business Development organization, Buchman participates in M&A, due diligence, and integration strategy. Shelly is also a member of Disclosure, Enterprise Risk, Internal Controls, & Policy Review committees.

In terms of HR operations, Buchman manages a $7M HR budget and HR operations including benefits, compensation management, workers comp, and compliance. Shelly designs HR solutions that create a positive working environment to foster employee engagement. Buchman also oversaw the selection and global implementation of Workday HRIS system including HCM, recruiting, payroll, and benefits modules within six months - exceeding corporate expectation and coming in on budget. Furthermore, they directed a strategic review of benefits offerings which resulted in a change in administrator and an 8% cost savings. Finally, Buchman

Shelly Buchman received their Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Houston Law Center, cum laude, in the field of law. Shelly also received their law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in the top 5% of their class. Shelly Buchman also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from The Ohio State University in Spanish Language and Literature. In addition, they have completed the University of Texas Executive Education Program in Finance for Non-Financial Managers. Shelly is certified by the State Bar of Texas as a Licensed Attorney.
