Derek Lerma

Derek Lerma is a seasoned marine scientist and project manager with extensive experience in marine and coastal business development. Currently serving as Senior Marine Scientist and Business Development lead at Rincon Consultants, Inc. since January 2016, Derek specializes in strategic growth within the marine sector, managing large-scale projects related to Ports and Harbors, Offshore Wind, and environmental compliance. Prior to this role, Derek held positions as Marine Resources Program Manager and Project Manager/Senior Marine Scientist at Tierra Data Inc., managing NEPA projects and resource investigations across California. Earlier experience includes roles as Sales Manager at American Marine Insurance and Marine Biologist at Channel Islands National Park. Derek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Oceanography from Humboldt State University.
