Peter Ganz

Dr. Ganz is Director of the Center of Excellence in Vascular Research at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He is also a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ganz has been a pioneer and a leader in translational and clinical cardiovascular research. His laboratory was the first to describe vascular endothelial function in the state of health and endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis in humans. He identified risk factors associated with endothelial dysfunction and showed that endothelial dysfunction can be corrected with statin therapy. Dr. Ganz served as the Chief of the Cardiovascular Division at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Maurice Eliaser Distinguished Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco from 2008 to 2019.

Dr. Ganz received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, completed his residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and cardiovascular fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
