Director: Strategic Programs And Outreach at Rituals For Recovery

Chenai Kadungure MA, MPhil is an experienced executive leader with a strong focus on community outreach, program development, and advocacy for equitable representation in medicine. As the Executive Director of the Black Physicians' Association of Ontario since November 2021, Chenai leads efforts to improve health outcomes for Black Ontarians and increase Black representation in the medical field. In addition to this role, Chenai serves as the Director of Strategic Programs and Outreach at Rituals For Recovery and has held significant positions such as Senior Manager at Black Youth Success and Associate Director at Skills for Change. With a robust background in international development and program management, Chenai has contributed to initiatives addressing malnutrition in Southern Africa and strategic planning for NGO programs. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in International/Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and multiple degrees in Gender Studies and Sociology from the University of Cape Town.

Rituals For Recovery

Rituals for Recovery is an Ontario based women centered non-profit corporation, established with the primary goal of ending suffering through trauma relief support, holistic care, healing arts, education, and training founded by internationally recognized social innovator, Amanda Willett. Led by trauma informed well-being experts including Willett, RFR’S team members are devoted to being universal agents of change in the trauma recovery and healing arts space. Our multi-talented team provides essential mind, body recovery tools and resources, to manage, cope and survive the aftermath of post-traumatic stress and complex trauma. As a learning organization, we strive for excellence and creating programs with impact. This includes leading awareness and prevention programs and continually building and sharing our knowledge of trauma informed care. We are committed to providing a healing space for our community to achieve a life of wellness and wholeness, helping survivors heal from inter-generational trauma~ and stop the cycle of transmission. Trauma informed care is key to our organization’s foundation and our core mission of strengthening individuals and communities, toward healing and hope for a future in which equality, justice, inclusion, and harmony are the new normal for all.
