Louise Askew has a strong background in governance, compliance, and interpretation. Louise started their career in 1987 as a Translator/Monitor for Serbo-Croat at the Foreign Broadcast Information Service at the US Embassy. Louise then worked as a Reviser at the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia from 1994 to 2000. From 2000 to 2004, Louise served as the Chief of the Linguistic Services Branch at NATO Stabilization Force HQ in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 2014, they worked as an Interpreter at the International Committee of the Red Cross. Currently, Louise is the Head of Governance and Compliance at the River Learning Trust, a position they have held since June 2017.
Louise Askew received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Serbo-Croat Language and Literature with a German subsidiary from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at London University from 1982 to 1987. Louise then pursued a Master's degree in European Political Economy from the University of Hull, studying from 1992 to 1993. Lastly, Louise obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in South East European Studies with a focus on International Language Policy in Bosnia since 1995 from the University of Nottingham, completing their studies from 2006 to 2011.
