Anthony came to the College from a stint at The Department of Education Regional Head Office in Wagga Wagga, where he was engaged as a Senior Education Officer working with low socioeconomic schools across the region. This role included developing parent and student engagement programs across 32 schools, with a focus on literacy and numeracy in K-12. Working with university academic partnerships, Anthony aided schools in the allocation of human and financial planning and resourcing to best maximise learning outcomes for all students. He was also part of the team that developed the 2LS Secondary Learning Strategy that was rolled out across the region.
Prior to his time in DET Regional Office, Anthony worked for 12 years at the largest K-12 school in the Riverina. In that time, he became Head Teacher English/History, led the school learning support team, and carried out roles as Relieving Deputy Principal, Head of Year, Anti-Racism Contact Officer, and Teacher’s Federation Staff Representative.
Anthony believes teaching is a profoundly important part of any successful community and sees teachers as a special group of professionals who have significant impacts on the students and families they serve. He has a particular interest in using data to inform the teaching cycle, with a particular focus on learning growth as a key indicator of teaching success. Anthony sees literacy and developing learning skills as the core of this growth and works with the teams he leads to be innovative, data-driven, and reflective.
In his spare time, Anthony enjoys following rugby league (in particular the South Sydney Rabbitohs), reading, and the occasional game of Call of Duty.
