Drs. Marith Volp (1972) is director of Public Health and Care at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.
Marith Volp studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and was trained as a general practitioner at the VU University in Amsterdam. She worked as a general practitioner in Amsterdam Slotermeer from 2006 to 2017. In addition to her work as a general practitioner, she worked during this period as a teacher at the VUMC GP training Free University Medical Center Amsterdam and later as a policy officer at the National General Practitioners Association. She was also chairman of the Association of Dutch Women Doctors (VNVA) for a number of years.
From 2013 to 2017 Marith was a Member of Parliament for the PvdA. During this period she remained a practicing general practitioner for one day a week. As a Member of Parliament she was a spokesperson in the fields of healthcare, finance and justice and a member of the standing committees on Health, Welfare and Sports and Justice. In her previous position, Marith was director of the acute and forensic psychiatry division at GGZ mental healthcare Noord Holland Noord and responsible for more than 550 employees in clinical and outpatient teams that provide acute and forensic psychiatric care to the residents of the Noord Holland Noord region. As a member of the two-man board of the acute and forensic psychiatry division of GGZ Noord Holland Noord, she was responsible for operational management, finance, human resource management, internal cooperation with the other divisions within GGZ NHN and external cooperation with regional and national network partners on the areas of care and justice.
Marith is chair of the program committee GeestKracht of FNO, a capital fund that works to increase the opportunities for more health, quality of life and future prospects. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Dokters in Debat, a foundation that teaches young doctors to make their voice heard in the social debate and chair of the f6 foundation, a foundation that teaches young people more about politics, democracy and citizenship through appealing projects. to organise.
