Martijn van Rooijen

Head Of Department Data, Innovation And Signaling at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment

Martijn van Rooijen has extensive work experience in data management, research, and project management in the field of ICT. Martijn currently holds the position of Head of Department Data, Innovation, and Signaling at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Steward at the same organization from March 2020 to September 2021, where they focused on creating transparency in data, making data FAIR, and supporting researchers in the process.

Before joining RIVM, Martijn worked at GGD Amsterdam, starting in April 2007. During their time there, they served as a Post-doc Datamanager at the STI clinic from May 2018 to March 2020, supervising two PhD students in their research on STI and sexual health among men who have sex with men and STI among male and transgender sex workers. Martijn also worked as a Datamanager and a PhD student, both roles starting in April 2007 and ending in March 2019.

Martijn's earliest work experience was at the Public Health Service of Amsterdam, where they worked as a Datamanager for the STI-clinic and Regional Laboratory from an unspecified date in 2007 until March 2020.

Throughout their career, Martijn has gained expertise in data management, research, and project management, particularly in the field of public health.

Martijn van Rooijen attended Leiden University from 1999 to 2005. Martijn is currently enrolled at IAPP, studying for their CIPP/E qualification.
