Alex Piers

Alex Piers began their work experience as a System Engineering Intern at RKF Engineering Solutions, LLC in July 2016. As an intern, they developed MATLAB and C++ code to improve a simulation tool for designing a world-wide internet system and analyzed link budget results to optimize resource scheduling for a telecommunication system.

In October 2017, Alex joined the University of Washington as a Research Assistant. During their time there, they were a key member of the DAMIC dark matter and Selena Neutrino Experiment collaborations, working with scientists from various institutions and countries. They performed statistical analysis on dark matter search data for data quality monitoring and WIMP-nucleon cross section limit extraction. They also led the DAMIC at SNOLAB detector upgrade campaign.

Returning to RKF Engineering Solutions, LLC in 2023, Alex assumed the role of System Engineer. Additional details of their work in this position are not provided.

Alex Piers has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Northeastern University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2017. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics at the University of Washington, which they expect to complete by 2023.
