Richard Smothers

Richard Smothers is an experienced finance professional currently serving as a Non Executive Director at RM plc since January 2023 and as Chief Financial Officer at Greene King PLC since December 2017. Previously, Richard held various senior finance roles including Chief Financial Officer at Mothercare plc and Tesco Lotus Thailand, Director of Group Finance at Rexam, and Finance Director at both Tesco and Tesco plc. Additionally, Richard contributed to the NCT Charity as Honorary Treasurer, Chair of Audit and Risk Committee, and Trustee from February 2016 to July 2022. Richard is also a former member of the Finance Committee at UCL and has been involved with the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand as Director and Treasurer. Richard holds a degree from the University of Warwick, earned between 1985 and 1988.
