Dr Campbell Chalmers has extensive work experience in the field of healthcare and advocacy for blind and partially sighted individuals. Dr Campbell has held various roles at the RNIB, including Director for RNIB Scotland and Head of Networks. In these positions, they provided strategic leadership and support to teams working on sight loss issues and community involvement. Dr Chalmers also served as a Trustee for the Forth Valley Sensory Centre and the Scottish Council on Visual Impairment. Prior to their work at the RNIB, they worked as a Stroke Nurse Consultant for NHS Lanarkshire, where they played a key role in improving stroke services. Dr Campbell also worked as a Clinical Fellow and Honorary Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and the University of the West of Scotland, respectively, where they focused on stroke care education and practice development.
Dr. Campbell Chalmers earned a Doctor of Nursing degree from the University of Stirling from 2009 to 2019. The focus of their research was on exploring the perceptions of stress for people who have experienced a Transient Ischaemic Attack. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed secondary education at Bannockburn High School from 1977 to 1982.
