Larry West

Larry West is an experienced travel leader and guide, currently serving at Orbridge since May 2018, where responsibilities include overall tour leadership, logistics, and providing cultural and natural history interpretations. West has also contributed to Road Scholar as a tour leader, guide, and lecturer since September 2015, specializing in programs across Alaska and western Canada, while acting as a consultant for program development. A self-employed writer and editor since 1981, expertise extends across various subjects, including the arts and environmental sciences. Previous roles include naturalist for The Boat Company, expedition leader for Alaskan Dream Cruises, and interim executive director for Discovery Southeast. Additionally, West has hosted programs at KTOO and Coast Alaska and has owned a bed and breakfast. Academic credentials include a Doctoral study in Ancient Near Eastern Languages and History from the University of Chicago, an M.A. from Andrews University, and a B.A. from Walla Walla University.
