Amy Fairbanks has a diverse range of work experience in the education field. Amy started their career as a teacher at Colegio Americano Torreón from 1992 to 1994. Amy then worked as a Dual Language Teacher and Coordinator at Eagle County School District from 1995 to 1999. Following that, they served as the Dual Language Coordinator at West Liberty Community Schools from 1999 to 2001, and as the Coordinator for Literacy and Language Support Services at Boulder Valley School District from 2001 to 2003. Amy then worked as a Dual Language Teacher at Weld 6 from 2003 to 2006, and held District Level Positions at Poudre School District from 2006 to 2013. In 2011, they worked as a Research Assistant and Independent Consultant at the University of Colorado Boulder until 2015. Starting from 2013, they have been associated with Roaring Fork School District (RE-1) as a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Instructional Facilitator, and from 2017, they have assumed the role of Director of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. In 2017, they also worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Teacher Education Program at Colorado Mountain College, where they acquainted teacher candidates with theories and approaches for equitable instruction for emerging bilingual students.
Amy Fairbanks has a diverse educational background. Amy first attended Cornell College from 1988 to 1992, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Education. Following this, from 1995 to 1998, they pursued their Master of Arts (MA) degree in Bilingual Education at Adams State University. Amy then went on to study at Colorado State University, where they obtained their Administration Licensure and pursued their doctoral studies in Educational Leadership Renewal and Change until 2008. In 2011, they enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity for a year.
