Peter van der Werf

Peter van der Werf is an experienced professional in the field of sustainable investment and active ownership, currently serving as the Head of Active Ownership at Robeco since April 2017. Under Peter's leadership, the Active Ownership team engages with approximately 300 companies annually and votes at the AGMs of over 7,000 companies, emphasizing good governance, climate change, biodiversity, and human rights. Previous roles at Robeco included Head of Engagement and Senior Engagement Specialist, focusing on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues across various sectors. Peter has also contributed to the Principles for Responsible Investment as an Advisory Committee Member, working on sustainable palm oil, deforestation, labor standards, and water risk in agricultural supply chains. Early career experiences range from business analysis at africaJUICE B.V. to CFO of South Sea Exclusive, complemented by a strong academic background with master's and bachelor's degrees in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University & Research.
