Henry Alt-Haaker has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Henry started their career as the Head of the director's office for the Canadian Universities' Center in 2003. Henry then worked as the Assistant to the Director at the German Academic Exchange Organisation (DAAD) in Paris before becoming a Research Assistant at the Max Kade Center for German Contemporary Literature in 2004.
In 2007, Henry interned at the Volkswagen Liaison Office to the EU before joining the Hertie School of Governance as a Research Assistant in 2008. Henry later became a Senior Advisor at Humanity in Action in the same year and also joined the Canadian Embassy as a Political Officer.
Henry's career continued to progress, and in 2010, they became the Managing Director and Chief of Staff at the Office of Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, the German Minister of Justice. Henry held this position until 2013 when they transitioned to the role of Program Officer at the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
At the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Henry held various roles, including Senior Project Manager and Head of International Relations Programs & Liaison Work at the Berlin Representative Office. Their most recent positions at the organization were as Senior Vice President.
In 2018, Henry took on additional responsibilities as the Chairperson of the Board Germany and Vice Chair of the International Board at Humanity in Action. Their most recent role, starting in 2020, is Senior Vice President at the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
Henry Alt-Haaker completed their Master in Public Policy degree in Migration, Labour Market, and International Relations at the Hertie School of Governance from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they pursued German Literature and US Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis from 2004 to 2005. Henry also earned a Magister degree in German Literature and Philosophy of Religion/Political Philosophy from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from 2000 to 2005. In addition, they studied Political Philosophy at Université Sorbonne Paris I from 2003 to 2004.
