Michael Zaninovich

MD & Principal at Robertson Stephens

Michael is a Principal and Managing Director at Robertson Stephens and has managed institutional and individual portfolios for 27 years. Together with Jeanette Garretty and Danny Rozansky, Michael advises Robertson Stephens’ clients in the US and Europe on capital markets, multi-asset class portfolios, hedging and manager due diligence.

Prior to Robertson Stephens, Michael was a Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Strategist at Wells Fargo Private Bank where he managed the largest relationship in the wealth management division. Before working at Wells Fargo, he was a partner in two global long/short hedge funds where he managed discretionary capital for institutional investors and large university endowments.

Michael earned a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University where he was awarded the Columbia Corporate Fellowship and holds a BA from Cornell University. He is fluent in Japanese and Italian and enjoys traveling to his apartment on Paris’ left bank. He is also a semi-professional jazz sax player and actively plays in modern jazz and fusion groups around the Bay Area. He is also the founder of the ‘Cavalieri di Nebbiolo’, a group of passionate wine connoisseurs dedicated to the education and promotion of Northern Italian culture, oenology and gastronomy. Lastly, he is the proud father of his son Yuki who recently graduated from Tufts University and is now working for Amazon’s Alexa artificial intelligence group in Seattle.
