Xiaorui Zhu

Co-founder, Principal Scientist, Board Member at RoboSense LiDAR

Xiaorui Zhu has a diverse work experience ranging from academia to industry. In 2007, Zhu joined the Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen Graduate School as an Associate Professor, later becoming a Professor and PHD Advisor. During this time, Zhu also took on leadership roles in professional organizations such as the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, serving as Chair of Chapters and International Activities Committee, Chair of Women in Engineering Ad Hoc Committee, and Women in Engineering Liaison. Zhu also played a significant role in several conferences, including being the PhD Forum Chair for the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA2015). In 2014, Zhu co-founded RoboSense LiDAR and held positions as Co-founder, Principal Scientist, and Board Member. Zhu later joined DJI as a Co-founder, Principal Scientist, and Board Member until 2013. Zhu's recent work includes being the Editor in Chief for the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Research and the Director of the Galaxy Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Research Institute.

Xiaorui Zhu's education history begins in 1994 when they enrolled at Harbin Institute of Technology. From 1994 to 1998, Zhu pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics. After completing their undergraduate studies, Zhu continued their education at Harbin Institute of Technology and obtained a Master's degree in Robotics from 1998 to 2000. Following their Master's degree, Zhu pursued a PhD in Robotics at the University of Utah from 2002 to 2007.
