Robert Lockwood has a diverse range of work experience in the field of network engineering and cyber security. Robert began their career in 1995 as a Senior Network Engineer at Lucent Technologies, where they worked as a consultant in the Technical Practice group, primarily focused on IP solutions. Robert continued to gain experience as a Network Engineer at SkyNet Systems in 2002 and as a Senior Network Engineer at 2e2 Ltd from 2003 to 2008, where they focused on network design, configuration, troubleshooting, and migration planning.
Lockwood then joined Level 3 Communications in 2008 as a Senior Network Design Engineer, where they worked on low-level designs for MPLS WANs for government departments and enterprise customers. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as a Network Consultant at Lockwood Kingsley Consultancy Limited, primarily serving BP's network infrastructure needs for a major gas platform in the Caspian Sea and along the gas pipeline in Azerbaijan and Georgia. Robert also took a sabbatical leave in 2013.
In 2017, Lockwood became a Senior Aircraftman Technician in the Royal Air Force (RAF) Reserves, where they worked in Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I), performing tasks such as network and Microsoft O/S problem documentation and resolution, database management, and various cyber security roles. Robert concurrently pursued an MSc in Cyber Security at the University of York, completing the eight taught modules, including cryptography, malware, forensic analysis, and cyber security research skills. Their dissertation focused on security vulnerabilities in IoT and Industrial IoT devices.
Most recently, Lockwood worked as a Senior Network Engineer at Roc Technologies in 2018, primarily focusing on network engineering tasks. Robert also briefly worked as an Information Management officer in the RAF Reserves during the same year. Robert Lockwood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Real-Time Computer Systems with Computing from the University of Gloucestershire, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. Later, they went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Cyber Security from the University of York, where they studied from 2016 to 2019.
