Senior Scientist Gene Therapies at Roche

Joost van Haasteren is a Senior Scientist in Gene Therapies at Roche, having previously held a Scientist position within the same field. Joost's postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley focused on enhancing the capacity of AAV as a gene therapy delivery vehicle through directed evolution of its capsid. Prior experience includes a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford, where Joost investigated in-vivo genome correction for genetic liver diseases using advanced viral vector systems and CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Joost has served as a member of various research ethics committees and boards, promoting the interests of young scientists in gene and cell therapy throughout Europe. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Cell and Gene Therapy from UCL and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Maastricht University.
