Heather Foti

Director, Human Subjects Research at Rochester Institute of Technology

Heather Foti is the current Director of Human Subjects Research at Rochester Institute of Technology. Prior to their current position, Ms. Foti served as the Assistant Director at St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center Inc., a community-based health center. In this role, they were responsible for program development, management, and operations as well as recruiting, training, and managing volunteer operations of over 200 individuals. Ms. Foti also facilitated communication among service programs, initiated and staffed committees, and coordinated in-service programs for health-care practitioners. Additionally, they cultivated networks and resources to support the Center mission, collaborated with outside agencies to leverage resources, and represented the agency at fund-raising and promotional events.

Before their work at St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center Inc., Ms. Foti worked as a Research Associate at Medical and Health Research Associates (Public Health Solutions). In this role, they coordinated field studies investigating cancer screening knowledge, skills and abilities among Theirpanic women in NYC. Heather was also responsible for recruiting and consenting subjects, managing and analyzing data, and supervising data collection staff. Additionally, Ms. Foti provided research administration for Neighborhood WIC and Early Intervention Coordination Services programs, coordinated with off-site researchers, subcontractors, and sponsors. Heather prepared and reviewed progress reports, monitored project budgets, ensured receipt of deliverables and adherence to contractual agreements. Ms. Foti also identified funding sources, directed and participated in grant development, developed survey instruments, consent documents, and needs assessments for research activities. Additionally, they administered the Institutional Review Board, developed and conducted training on Good Clinical Practices, and participated in the preparation of journal manuscripts and presentations for local and national conferences.

Heather Foti has a Master of Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical and Biological Anthropology from University at Buffalo. Heather also has a degree from Crafting Social.
