Robert Darnell is an accomplished physician and researcher with a significant background in neurology and molecular biology. Currently serving as an Investigator at Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Heilbrunn Professor at Rockefeller University, Darnell has extensive experience as an Attending Neurologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Darnell also held the roles of President, Founding Director, and CEO at the New York Genome Center from 2012 to 2016. Educationally, Darnell earned a BA in Biology and Chemistry from Columbia University, followed by an MD and PhD in Molecular Biology from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Darnell completed internal medicine residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and further specialized at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
