CFO at Rocketship Public Schools

Matt Shaw serves as Chief Financial Officer, responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial and accounting operations and management across the Rocketship Public Schools network.

Matt has over 20 years of management experience in the education sector with expertise in financial oversight and management, financial modeling, new school design and development, and strategic planning. As a national leader in charter school finance, Matt has served as a senior financial advisor and interim CFO to numerous schools. Additionally, Matt has supported charter school authorizers and funders across the country in their review of charter school and charter network applications, the creation of budget templates and financial oversight standards, and the review of charter school network financial management practices. Matt has developed financial models for more than 30 schools and school networks across the country and has provided financial guidance to countless other charter school groups. Matt has worked with Aspire Public Schools, Ednovate, Intrinsic Schools, LEARN Charter School Network, Zeta Charter Schools, KIPP Texas – San Antonio, the Noble Network of Charter Schools, Illinois State Charter School Commission, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and National Association of Charter School Authorizers, to name a few. Matt was also part of the team that established the district-wide funding formula for Chicago Public Schools, the third largest school district in the country.

Prior to consulting, Matt served as the Director of Operations for Perspectives Charter School in Chicago. He received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis.
