Chaz Teplin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the fields of electricity and clean energy. Currently serving as Principal of the Electricity Practice at the Rocky Mountain Institute since August 2018, Chaz leads initiatives focused on emissions reduction, electricity reliability, and market changes, and co-authored the Clean Energy Portfolios Report. Prior to this role, Chaz owned Teplin Scientific, LLC, advising tech companies on strategic decisions and managing semiconductor technology development at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Chaz also contributed to IoT development at Terralux, overseeing the creation of an IoT controls system and co-inventing patents. Previous positions include Senior Scientist at NREL, where Chaz advanced in the silicon photovoltaics group, and Technology and Scientific Lead at Ampulse Corporation, where Chaz played a key role in securing venture capital and leading technology R&D. Chaz holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Swarthmore College.
