Pintian Chen is an associate for the Electricity Program at RMI, where he works for the Utility Transition Finance initiative. He focuses on using innovative financial tools to help utilities accelerate the clean energy transition. He is developing integrated financial models on securitization and performance-based regulation to assess the economic and regulatory impact of the transition.
Before joining RMI, Pintian worked for the Clean Energy Finance Team at Connecticut Green Bank and at GreenMax Capital Advisors on solar finance in Africa. He received his MPA degree from Columbia University, particularly interested in energy finance. During graduate school, he worked as a summer associate at Hudson Sustainable Investments, where he worked on sustainable infrastructure and technology investment. Pintian developed his interest in clean energy at the United Nations Development Programme, when he monitored and evaluated development projects in energy and environment.
Apart from clean energy, Pintian loves films and enjoys traveling. He has jumped off the world’s highest bungee platform. He is learning French at French Institute Alliance Française.
